Was eignet sich besser dazu den Traum vom Durchbruch der eigenen Band zu verwirklichen als an einem Bandcontest teilzunehmen? Die beiden Freunde Aksel und Grim wollen auf jeden Fall einmal durch ganz Norwegen reisen, um ihre Band Los Bando Immortale bei der Rock-Championship in Trømso zu vertreten. Dafür suchen sie sich sogar noch kurzerhand die neunjährige Thilda mit ihrem Cello als Bassisten und überreden sogar den Rellyfahrer Martin sie zu fahren.
So machen sich die vier mit einem coolen Bandvan auf die Reise, und auch wenn sie den Contest in Trømso als gemeinsames Ziel haben, hat jeder doch eigene Probleme und Gedanken, die sie mit dem Trip verbinden. Aksel, der sich durch den Auftritt endlich etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit seiner Angebeteten Linda erhofft; Grim, dessen Eltern sich seit Monaten nur noch streiten und er sich zudem nicht traut Aksel zu erzählen, dass dieser überhaupt nicht singen kann; Thilda, die das Mobbing in der Schule leid hat und einfach nur weg will und Martin, der den Lackierbetrieb seines Vaters übernehmen soll und so seine eigenen Träume nicht leben kann. Alle vier erhoffen sich mit der Fahrt und dem der Championship also völlig verschiedenes, finden durch die Reise aber trotzdem zusammen.
Der Regisseur Christian Lo, der mit „Los Bando“ nach „Bestevenner“ 2010 schon seinen zweiten Langfilm in der Sektion K-Plus präsentiert, lässt in seinem Film diese vier unterschiedlichen Charaktere mit ihren individuellen Geschichte aufeinandertreffen und führt sie zusammen. Begleitet von rockiger Musik und wunderschönen Bildern der Natur Norwegens zeigt der Film den Zuschauern, wie wichtig Freundschaft und Zusammenhalt ist und wie viel erreicht und gelöst werden kann, wenn man zusammen für eine Sache kämpft. Denn die vier Protagonisten müssen die eine oder andere Komplikation und das ein oder andere Problem überstehen, um ihr Ziel zu erreichen.
Der Film behandelt damit wichtige Themen wie die Beziehung zwischen Eltern und Kindern, den Umgang unter Freunden, Träume und den Willen für Dinge einzustehen, die man erreichen will. Verpackt ist das ganze aber in einem sehr lustigen Film, bei dem das ganze Publikum lachen und mitfiebern kann. Auch viele Spannungsmomente sind mit eingebaut - ob sie es wirklich rechtzeitig zum Auftritt schaffen? Ob alles gut geht, obwohl sich immer mehr und mehr Probleme anbahnen? „Los Bando“ hat damit so gut wie alles, was ein guter Kinderfilm braucht: Einen spannenden und lustigen Plot, relevante Themen und damit auch etwas Lehrreiches, toll ausgearbeitete Charaktere und das alles in einem wirklich gut gemachten Film.
Auch hier war ich wieder einmal besonders angetan von den Jugendschauspielern. Mit Jonas Hoff Oftebro als Martin, der in Norwegen schon ein wenig bekannt ist und Tage Hogness und Jakob Dyrud als Grim und Aksel, die beide bereits in einem Kurzfilm Lo’s mitspielten haben, ist zwar schon etwas Filmerfahrung der Schauspieler vorhanden, aber grade auch Tiril Marie Høistad Berger als Thilda spielt ihre Rolle authentisch und vor allem das Zusammenspiel der Jugendlichen wirkt sehr natürlich und echt. So hat man fast das Gefühl, die vier könnten auch außerhalb des Filmes problemlos aufspringen und Songs zusammen spielen.
Im Gesamtpaket ist „Los Bando“ ein wirklich toller Kinder- und Jugendfilm, der relevante Themen behandelt und man gleichzeitig richtig mitgehen kann. Die rockige Stimmung schwappt auf das Publikum über und lässt „Los Bandos“ zu einem tollen Film zum Wohlfühlen und Genießen werden, der mit etwas Glück ja vielleicht auch in ein paar Jahren in den deutschen Kinos zu sehen sein wird.

A Rocking Adventure
Whats the best step to reach world fame with the own band? The two friends Aksel and Grim decide to travel all over Norway to represent their band Los Bando Immortale at the Rock-Championship in Trømso. So they quickly find nine-year-old Thilda with her cello as bass player and persuade the relay driver Martin to drive them.
So the four set off to their journey, and even though they have the contest in Trømso as their purpose, everyone has their own problems and thoughts they think about during the trip. Aksel who is hoping for a little more attention from his beloved Linda through the performance; Grim, whose parents have only been fighting for months and he also doesn't dare to tell Aksel that he can't sing at all; Thilda who is tired of the bullying at school and just wants to leave; and Martin who is supposed to take over his father's job and can't follow his own dreams. All four of them want to reach complete differente thing during the trip and the championship, but still find their way together.
The director Christian Lo, who presents his second feature film in the section K-Plus with "Los Bando" after "Bestevenner" in 2010, lets these four different characters meet with their individual stories and brings them together in his film. With fantastic rock music and beautiful pictures of Norway's nature the film shows us how important friendship and cohesion are and how much can be achieved and solved if you fight together for a cause. The four protagonists have to get over one or the other complication and problems in order to achieve their goal.
The film deals with important topics such as the relationship between parents and children, between friends, dreaming of things and the will to stand up for things you want to achieve. But the whole thing is packed in a very funny movie, where everyone can laugh and share in the excitement. Many moments of tension are also built in - whether they really make it in time for the performance? Is everything going well, even though more and more problems are emerging? "Los Bando" has almost everything that a good children's film needs: an exciting and funny plot, relevant topics and with it also something you can learn from, nicely worked out characters and all that in a really well made film.
Again, I was especially impressed by the youth actors. With Jonas Hoff Oftebro as Martin, who is already a little known in Norway and Tage Hogness and Jakob Dyrud as Grim and Aksel, who both have already acted in one of Lo's short film, the actors already have some film experience, but also Tiril Marie Høistad Berger as Thilda plays her role very authentically and especially the interaction of the young people is very natural and genuine. You almost get the feeling that the four could just play songs together in real life without any problems.
In general "Los Bando" is a really great children's and youth film, which deals with relevant topics and at the same time you can really go along with it. The atmosphere with rocking music gets over to the audience and turns "Los Bandos" into a great film to feel good and enjoy, which with a little luck will be shown in German cinemas in a few years' time.
